Introduction to IoT.
Training and support, done right.

A hands-on curriculum that takes learners from sensor basics to a working connected project — with mentorship that doesn't stop when the workshop ends.

Presented by Jerome Hiebel, M.S. Electronics & Electrical Engineering · linkedin.com/in/jeromehiebel

This program gives learners a practical introduction to the Internet of Things, built around hands-on work with sensors and connectivity. It pairs foundational knowledge with applied practice, so participants leave able to start their own IoT projects with confidence.

Curriculum

Three sessions, start to finish

Introduction to IoT

Objectives
  • Build familiarity with IoT concepts, terminology, and real-world applications.
  • Provide hands-on exposure to sensors and connectivity workflows.
  • Empower learners to safely experiment with IoT hardware.
Agenda
  • Basics of IoT: definitions, jargon, and key concepts.
  • Sensor showcase: overview of the academy's available sensors and their functions.
  • Output devices: things that produce an effect — light or motion.
  • Crash course on connectivity: how sensor data travels to mobile devices.
  • Safety essentials: how not to fry a sensor.
  • Other, as needed.

Workshop I

4 hours · customisable
  • Hands-on demo: control an LED with ESP32.
  • IDE / SDK setup.
  • Implementing the controls and communication.
  • Bonus: integrate into your own app.

Workshop II
